Workforce Development Programs
WEDnetPA – Workforce & Economic Development Network of PA – is the primary delivery system for Pennsylvania’s incumbent workforce training. There is now only one single funding source, “Job Skills Training” requiring just one application, one training plan and one contract.? A company can apply for up to $100,000 and a $2,000 per employee maximum award. Eligible training must be skill-building for a current job, advancement or promotion in areas such as workplace behaviors, health and safety, business operations, machine operations and maintenance, and many more!
- New Employees: On the Job Training– (Funded from the Federal WIOA Fund) The maximum amount of OJT funding per participant is $8,000. Philadelphia Works will typically reimburse an eligible employer up to 50 percent of an OJT participant’s wage rate during the OJT (for the extraordinary costs of providing the training, potentially lower productivity of the OJT participants, and additional supervision related to the OJT)? Provides training services to new employees for a period of time upon employment.
- Customized Job Training: Training tailored specifically to meet the needs of employers for a specified job category.
- Staff Development/Supervisory Training: Training is available for supervisors at no cost to the employer. Programs are tailored to each employer’s assessment of supervisory needs. The training is geared to improving employee retention through skilled management practices.
- Literacy, Language and Computer Skills in the Workplace: Through partnerships with local organizations, employees can receive workforce literacy services such as English as a Second Language (ESL), basic reading, math, or computer skills to enhance the skill level and efficiency of the company’s workforce.
*Free money (grants) are available to help you upgrade your workforce. Availability will depend on funding amounts received from the State of Pennsylvania and are first come, first serve.
